Bheemana Amavase is a significant and traditional festival observed by women, especially in Karnataka and South India. It is celebrated on the new moon day (Amavasya) of the Ashada month.
This ritual is performed to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati for:
- The long life of one’s husband (for married women)
- Blessings for a good husband (for unmarried women)
Pooja Highlights:
- Bheemeshwara Pooja with sacred thread (Dhare Daara)
- Story narration (Vrata Katha) of Bheema and his devotion
- Offering of Arishina-Kumkuma, bangles, and traditional items
- Sacred tying of the protective thread by women
Participants are encouraged to come in traditional attire and bring pooja items as per the instructions provided.
